Dear Toney Elementary Stakeholders,

As the Interim Principal of Toney Elementary School, I am excited to introduce myself to this wonderful community. I am overjoyed and honored to join such a dedicated staff and community that has fostered an environment for students to thrive. As an educator, I have dedicated many years to supporting students' learning from kindergarten through grade eight, promoting growth and learning at every stage.

My name is Debbie Satterfield. I have many experiences and a deep commitment to academic excellence. My professional journey has taken me to various educational settings, including public and charter schools. Through these experiences, I have gained valuable insights into students, parents, and educators' unique needs.

As the former Principal of Midvale Elementary, I successfully collaborated with parents, teachers, and community members to support Midvale students and the school in acquiring STEM certification and their highest CCRPI score to date. I have also worked in Atlanta Public Schools as the Principal at Wesley International Academy, K-8 Charter School. During my tenure at Wesley, I focused on increasing the teacher retention rate, deepening teachers' professional growth, and strengthening the transition process between the elementary and middle school academies.

My previous experiences as a teacher, school counselor, assistant principal, and principal have prepared me to understand the social, academic, and behavioral transitions children experience from elementary to middle school. I am excited to bring my skills as an educational leader to Toney Elementary School and work with everyone as a partner in education to ensure our scholars' success.

My primary goal is to continue supporting the teachers of Toney Elementary School with the tools they need to succeed in helping children grow and exceed expectations. As we start a new school year, I look forward to developing relationships and setting goals that will drive our scholars to new levels and heights of success.

Please know that my door will always be open, and your input is welcome and crucial to our success. If you have any concerns, please call or email me to discuss them. Your voice matters, and I am here to listen and address any issues that may arise.

Warm regards,

Dr. Debbie Satterfield
Interim Principal
